What You Will Gain
Over two intensive days you experience the LEGO® Serious Play® method as a participant before learning to design and facilitate sessions yourself, so you leave with real capability, your own kit of bricks, and a clear starting point for bringing the method into your own context.
Experience the full build progression as a participant: skills builds and warm-ups, individual builds, group and landscape builds, and either an introduction to systems builds or the method combined with Action Learning. Then practise facilitating within the cohort.
Your certificate is issued by LSP Method, the Australian training organisation founded by Michael Fearne, which has training partners around the world and is recognised by other established LSP training networks. Certifying with us puts you in a community of 2,000+ facilitators certified through LSP Method worldwide.
A LEGO® Serious Play® Starter Kit is yours to take home, along with digital access to Michael Fearne's The LSP Method. You leave able to run a session, not just able to describe one.
Alongside the builds, you talk openly with the cohort about where the method fits in your own work, your proposed strategy behind using it, and possibly an outline of your first workshop.
A small cohort means personalised coaching from master facilitators, real peer dialogue, and strong connections with fellow practitioners.
Your trainers hold LSP Method PRO Trainer certification and bring deep professional practice in education, coaching, and organisational development.
Never underestimate this one. Being a certified LSP facilitator earns you serious standing with the nieces, nephews, and other highly intelligent young people in your life who are obsessed with LEGO.
Certification connects you to the global LSP Method facilitator community, with continued access to peers and resources, and free coaching from us, with no time limit, as you integrate the method into your work.
About the Method
The LEGO® Serious Play® method is a facilitation methodology developed in the late 1990s by Johan Roos and Bart Victor, and further developed by Robert Rasmussen. The LEGO® Group was among the earliest and most prominent organisations to use the method, bringing its power for strategic thinking and team alignment into their own work before it spread globally.
The method uses three-dimensional LEGO models as the basis for dialogue, reflection, and decision making. It is grounded in constructivist learning theory: we think better when we build, and we communicate more richly when we have something to point at.
Build first. The words come easier when your hands have already worked out what you mean.
As you progress through the method, individual builds give way to richer techniques: group builds, landscape builds, which map how people, ideas, or elements relate to one another, and systems builds, a more comprehensive way of modelling a system's relationships and dynamics. It is a serious strategic thinking tool, not a team-building exercise.
Training Agenda
The theory, history and science of the method are covered before you arrive, so both days in the room are spent building, facilitating and practising. You experience the full depth of the method as a participant on Day 1, then shift into the facilitator role on Day 2.
What the two days will ask of you, and who you will be working with.
The core sequence of an LSP session and how the stages build on one another.
The learning theory and research behind why we think better when we build.
What goes into a facilitator kit, and how to build on the starter kit you take home.
The facilitator's job in an LSP session, and how it differs from running a meeting.
Using the LEGO® Serious Play® name properly in your own practice, explaining the method to a client, and the community you join.
Cohort introductions, learning objectives, and a warm-up build that introduces metaphor and storytelling. Your first hands-on experience of building as a way of thinking.
Each participant builds an individual response to a prompt and tells the story of the model, then the group co-creates a single shared model from what emerged.
Building the agents in a situation, then arranging them into a landscape where each model keeps its own identity within a collective view, and the relationships between them become visible.
How a session is brought to a close so that people leave with something they can act on.
The two things that decide whether an LSP session works. Writing the build questions, and sequencing them into a structure that goes somewhere.
An explanation of the two main activities for Day 2, and time with a partner to develop and plan your practice session.
Back into the method quickly, and a look at the warm-ups you will use in your own sessions.
An open discussion about your plans for integrating LSP into your own work: where it fits, the strategy behind any planned sessions, and the questions you might explore. You might share an outline of a planned session, or simply bring some ideas to get feedback from the group.
Day 2 either introduces systems builds or combines the LEGO® Serious Play® method with Action Learning. More about the two options. You can tell us your preference on the registration form, and we confirm the choice with the cohort before the training.
The largest part of Day 2. You facilitate a portion of a workshop for your cohort peers and guests. You are invited to bring one or two people as guests for the afternoon, who take part as genuine participants, not observers. Feedback and coaching follow at the end.
Group reflection on the training, next steps for bringing the method into your work, certification, and access to the global LSP Method community.
Both days run from 9am to 5pm, with lunch and snacks provided. Detailed timings are confirmed with registered participants closer to the dates.
Day 2 Options
Part of Day 2 takes one of two directions. Both build on what you learn on Day 1, and both are ways of taking the method further than a single workshop. The registration form asks which you would prefer, and we confirm the choice with the cohort before the training.
A systems build takes the landscape from Day 1 a step further. The group builds a shared model of a whole system: the people, teams, forces and ideas that shape a situation, and the connections between them. Those connections are made physical, so the group can see what depends on what.
The model is then put to work. The group tests scenarios against it, asks what happens when one part changes, and looks for where the system is strong, where it is fragile, and where a small change would make the biggest difference.
Suits people working on strategy, organisational change, or any situation with many moving parts.
Action Learning is a team-based approach to working on real problems. A small group takes on a genuine problem brought by one of its members, works on it mainly through questions rather than advice, reflects on how it is learning, and commits to action.
Combined with the LEGO® Serious Play® method, people build their answers before they speak, so every perspective is on the table and the questions go deeper. The two methods work very effectively together. Lan Anh, your Co-Trainer, is a Certified Action Learning Coach.
Suits coaches, team leaders, and anyone helping groups solve real problems and learn from them.
Not sure which suits you? Choose “Either would suit me” or “Don’t know yet” on the form, or ask us on a discovery call.
Included in Your Registration
Certification is the credential. These are the things that decide whether you actually run your first workshop in the weeks after, rather than in the someday after that.

You go home with bricks, not just notes. It is enough to run your first sessions with a small group, and it is the base you build a full facilitator kit on.

Michael Fearne's book, the reference text for the method, in digital form. It is the thing you go back to when you are designing a session six months from now.

Your facilitator certificate, issued by LSP Method, plus a digital credential you can add to your LinkedIn profile, and a place in a community of 2,000+ facilitators certified through LSP Method worldwide.
We are available to advise before your practice session. Once all the practice workshops are done, there is a group debrief where everyone gives feedback, with more specific coaching guidance from the master facilitators.
As you start bringing the method into your own work, you can come back to us for coaching at no extra cost. There is no time limit on the offer.
Lunch and snacks are provided on both days, so the time in the room goes on building and practising.
The Venue
Both days are held in the Library at the Marianne and Edward Gibson Art Museum, on the Simon Fraser University Burnaby campus at 8888 University Drive, Burnaby. It is an inspiring setting for two days of building and thinking.
Friday 6 and Saturday 7 November 2026. Joining instructions go to registered participants ahead of the training.
Lunch and snacks are provided on both days, and there are cafés and restaurants a few minutes' walk away.
By transit, take any bus to SFU and stay on to the last stop, the SFU Transit Exchange. If you drive, there is paid parking on campus, and the museum suggests the North parking lot.
SFU runs year-round guest accommodation on the Burnaby campus, so you can stay on the mountain. See SFU Guest Accommodations.
Is This for You?
The cohort works best when the room holds a mix of contexts, so people leave with ideas they would not have found on their own.
Instructors, curriculum designers, student services professionals, and academic leaders looking to bring participatory methodologies into classrooms, strategic planning, and institutional processes.
People and culture leaders, organisational development practitioners, and learning and development specialists who facilitate teams, lead change, or design learning experiences.
Executive coaches, team coaches, and independent consultants wanting to add a distinctive 3D sense-making and systems thinking method to their client work.
Practising facilitators who already run workshops and want a structured, well-evidenced methodology that changes what a group is able to say to itself.
People who run planning sessions, retrospectives and cross-team work inside their own organisation rather than as external consultants. We invoice against a purchase order where your procurement process requires it.
Hobbyists, those looking for a general LEGO-building experience, or individuals without a professional facilitation context. The certification is a professional credential and the cohort engages seriously with its application in real-world practice.

Bundle · LEGO® Serious Play® + Team Psychological Safety
The Team Psychological Safety (TPS) assessment shows a team where psychological safety is strong and where it is thin. The next question is what to do in the room, and the LEGO® Serious Play® method is one of the most practical answers we know.
In a LEGO® Serious Play® session every person builds a model of their answer and every person explains it. The quietest member of the team has the same time and the same attention as the most senior. People speak through what they have built, which makes a hard subject easier to put on the table. Take both certifications and you leave able to measure psychological safety in a team, and to run the conversations that build it.
The next cohort runs entirely on Zoom, beginning Wednesday 20 January 2027.
All TPS times are Pacific. Choose your TPS cohort on the registration form. Full details of the programme are on the TPS Certified Practitioner page.

Frequently Asked Questions
By training with an experienced trainer, and ideally by facilitating the method for real before you finish. There is no single official route, so it is worth checking how much hands-on practice a programme includes. Ours starts with short pre-training videos, then two full days in person in Vancouver. On Day 1 you experience the method as a participant. On Day 2 you facilitate part of a workshop with live participants, followed by a group debrief and coaching. You leave certified, with your own Starter Kit, and with free follow-up coaching from us as you start using LSP in your own work.
Register for a cohort, watch the pre-training videos (about 90 minutes, sent about a week before), then take part in both days in person, including your practice session on Day 2. Your certificate is issued by LSP Method, which has training partners around the world, and it comes with a digital credential you can add to your LinkedIn profile.
No prior LSP experience is required. The training is designed for professionals who already facilitate in some capacity, whether in education, HR, OD, or coaching, and want to add a structured 3D methodology to their practice. General facilitation experience is helpful but not a prerequisite.
No. There is no central certification body for the method. Different organisations train and certify facilitators to their own standards, which is why it is worth looking at what a particular programme actually asks of you. Ours is two full days in person with preparatory material (videos) beforehand, and Day 2 is given over largely to facilitating a real session with live participants. We provide a debrief and coaching guidance as part of this. Your certificate is issued by LSP Method, which has training partners around the world and is recognised by other established LSP training networks.
No. Everything you need is provided for the two days, and a LEGO® Serious Play® Starter Kit is included in your registration for you to take home. That kit is enough to run your first sessions with a small group, and the pre-training material covers how to build it out into a full facilitator kit over time.
Your facilitator certification through LSP Method and a digital credential for your LinkedIn profile, a LEGO® Serious Play® Starter Kit, digital access to Michael Fearne's The LSP Method, the experience of having facilitated part of a workshop with live participants and been through the debrief, membership of the global LSP Method facilitator community, and free coaching from us afterwards, with no time limit.
Your certificate is issued by LSP Method, the Australian training organisation founded by Michael Fearne, with whom Serious Play Methods is a training partner. It comes with a digital credential you can add to your LinkedIn profile, and it connects you to a community of 2,000+ facilitators certified through LSP Method worldwide.
Each participant facilitates a portion of a workshop. Your cohort peers take part as genuine participants, and you can invite one or two guests to join for this part of the day, so you are facilitating a real group rather than a simulated exercise. The master facilitators observe and provide debriefing and coaching at the end.
We provide access to a series of short videos covering the theory and background to LSP. This means the two days in the room can be spent building and facilitating. The videos currently have about 90 minutes of content, and the link will be sent to you about a week ahead of the training.
Both days are in the Library at the Marianne and Edward Gibson Art Museum, on the Simon Fraser University Burnaby campus, 8888 University Drive, Burnaby. Full joining instructions go to registered participants ahead of the training.
If you and a colleague register together, each of you pays CAD $1,600, and the same rate applies to larger groups from one organisation. It is the lowest rate on offer and it does not change with the date, so it is worth asking a colleague even late on. Note the other names on the registration form so the registrations can be matched.
The Early Bird rate of CAD $1,800 closed on Sunday 18 October, and the Full Rate of CAD $2,400 applies from Monday 19 October. If you schedule a 20-minute Zoom call with David before you register, we will offer you a Special Discount. The training, the kit, the book and the trainers are identical at any rate. If two or more of you register together the rate is CAD $1,600 each at any point.
No. All prices listed are before GST. GST is added when your registration is confirmed.
Both certifications for CAD $2,500 + GST: this two-day LEGO® Serious Play® certification in Vancouver, and the Team Psychological Safety (TPS) Certified Practitioner programme, which carries 28 ICF CCEs. You can take TPS in the November hybrid cohort, with two of its four modules in person in Vancouver, or in the fully online cohort beginning 20 January 2027. The bundle rate has no deadline, and it is a fixed rate that does not combine with Bring a Buddy. There is more about TPS on the TPS Certified Practitioner page. Choose the bundle on the registration form, and see how the two fit together.
Day 2 includes either an introduction to systems builds or the LEGO® Serious Play® method combined with Action Learning. The registration form asks which you would prefer, and we confirm the choice with the cohort before the training. More about the two options.
Lunch and snacks are provided on both days, and there are cafés and restaurants a few minutes' walk from the venue. There is paid parking on the SFU Burnaby campus, and the museum suggests the North parking lot. By transit, take any bus to SFU and stay on to the last stop, the SFU Transit Exchange.
Yes. Note it on the registration form and we will issue an invoice with whatever reference or PO number your finance team needs, rather than asking you to pay by card.
